Artisan Work Lab

Artisan Work Lab

The Artisan Work Lab is a makerspace for people to create, craft and upcycle new things out of the raw materials generated from excess free store donations. Members can use the space as a work studio and to teach or participate in a variety of artisan classes.

It is just one component of a larger project called MAKE SPACE: Whittier Free Store and Artisan Work Lab. MAKE SPACE is a creative upcycling center for diverting material goods from the waste stream by redistributing or transforming items back into the community for reuse.

We are located at 12907 Hadley Street (at Comstock), Whittier, CA 90601 in Uptown Whittier. Check the calendar for store hours and volunteer opportunities.

Calling all artists, crafters, and makers!

The Artisan Work Lab is now ready for you to see and offer your input on how you personally might like to use the space and how we can make it functional for community use. Will you come help shape this new project? Are there particular classes or workshops that you would like to lead or attend?

We’re opening the makerspace up for artists, crafters, and makers this Sunday, Oct. 7th at noon during our monthly community potluck. We’d love to have you come by to look at the space and give us your input! After we receive your input, we’ll continue setting up the space for the Soft Opening for the Artisan Work Lab on Sunday, Nov. 4th.
