The Catalyst Network of Communities has partnered with the Long Beach Time Exchange to connect pools of volunteers. It's a time bank - so in a nutshell, you can bank volunteer hours you do for others then get volunteer hours from others. Hour for hour, it's that simple! You give one hour of graphic design work, then you can receive one hour of gardening work from someone else. What can you do for others? What do you need from others? Just bank it!

An easy way to affect your community is by responding to a need. 

For local Long Beach opportunities, check us out below. For opportunities regionally or nationwide, see the links to the right. Be sure to create a profile over at the Long Beach Time Exchange too! If you're going to volunteer anyway, you might as well bank your service hours for credit elsewhere in the Time Exchange.

In addition to the many volunteer opportunities out there from individuals and organizations that you'll find in the LB Time Exchange, there are specific volunteer opportunities from the Catalyst Network and it's various collaboratives listed in the LB Time Exchange.

Do you need help with an event or task and need volunteers? Click here to tell us about your volunteer opportunity and we'll help send people your way!

Here are some volunteer needs that we have:

  • Graphic design work to create web site elements or flyers.
  • Learn how to build Squarespace web sites and then build sites for us. We can teach and train you how to do this. You can even use this experience to create a business of your own!
  • Volunteer for a shift at the Catalyst Space - a community center in the East Village Arts District, downtown Long Beach.
  • Event photography.
  • Event videography.
  • Video editing.
  • Help set up/take down for events and activities.
  • Social media support.
  • Video record people's stories for our YouTube channel.
  • Help get sponsors to fund various community projects.
  • Help clean up and organize our basement at the Catalyst Space.
  • Deconstruct shelving in our basement at the Catalyst Space.
  • Help connect people to social and volunteer opportunities available.
