Background
We feel that many residents feel isolated, and that much work goes unrecognized or undervalued.
Mission
We aim to connect diverse communities around the idea of sharing and developing networks of trust, reciprocity, and the understanding that everyone is an asset, and that everyone’s time is valuable. Time credits are a solution that can help to build a different kind of economy, what can be called the “core” economy---the things we do to help each other out. Time banking recognizes and rewards these contributions.
Long Beach Time Exchange Programs
-We’ve hosted monthly potlucks, and will continue to do so.
-We had a survey developed by CSULB students given to about 100 of our members.
-We hosted a couple special workshops on sharing networks, and cooking with herbs.
-We’re creating Spanish-language conversational groups and other workshops based on members’ suggestions, for spring and summer.
-We’re holding focus groups and outreach to Spanish and Khmer-speaking people and organizations
Outcomes
-Grow our membership from 350 to 500 in the next year.
-Increase representation in Cambodian and Latino residents.
-Facilitate more workshops and group learning opportunities.
-Develop our database and ability to tap resources in our network.
