CoachArt is a California-based nonprofit organization with a mission to improve the quality of life for children with chronic and life-threatening illnesses, and their siblings, by providing free lessons in the arts and athletics. CoachArt youth receive outpatient care for conditions such as cancer, diabetes, arthritis and sickle cell disease. These illnesses require months or years of treatments or therapy. For families who care for a chronically ill child, the time-commitments and high costs of ongoing medical care prevents many of these youth, and their siblings, from participating in arts or recreational activities. CoachArt believes that every child should have a chance to engage in the arts and athletics, so we have created community-based networks of trained and talented volunteers to teach free lessons in a variety of activities to chronically ill youth and their siblings. Our network also includes a variety of program partners who donate group and private instruction.
