Grant Writing Workshop

The Grant Writing Workshop is upon us once again! No experience necessary, Karen will teach you everything you need to know from beginning to end! If you haven't already taken advantage of this FREE workshop, I suggest you jump on board...it's the perfect time to learn a new skill or simply fulfill your curiosity! Just bring yourself, your questions and what the heck grab a friend or two...this is a rare opportunity and one that Karen is happy to offer to all of you!

Intro to Improv Comedy Class

Ok so if you've missed the last couple of start dates and have been toying with the idea of taking this class, now is the time to jump in and do it! Break out of that shell, have some laughs, meet some new people and much more! Learn how and when to prune trees and shrubs from Dr. Jerrold Turney, certified arborist and licensed CA agricultural pest control advisor. Dr. Turney will cover the fundamentals of pruning following the guidelines
established by the International Society of Arboriculture. The  pruning  of  fruit  trees  (stone fruits, apple & pear, citrus, avocado, etc.) for  increased  fruit  production and disease control will also be covered, as well as the major diseases that attack fruit trees.

Dr. Turney received his B. S. In Botany from California State Polytechnic University and his Ph.D. in plant pathology from the University of California at Riverside. He has served as the curator of the camellia gardens at the Huntington Library and Botanic Gardens, a research horticulturist at the Los Angeles County Arboretum, and is currently the plant pathologist for the Department of Agricultural Commissioner/Weights and Measures for the County of Los Angeles. In addition, Dr. Turney was formerly a licensed landscape contractor, and is currently a licensed agricultural pest control advisor and an ISA certified arborist. His primary fields of expertise are plant pathology, mycology and arboriculture.

Grant Writing Workshop Saturday 9/17 & 9/24

It's time for those wonderful Saturday mornings all you grant writers! Karen is not only amazing at her job but she's an excellent teacher too, those are only a couple of reasons to take her class...the rest you will wait to hear in person...like how do you start a Non-Profit, what grants can artists get, can anyone get a grant? The answers will for sure surprise you and besides what's a few hours on a couple of Saturday mornings to maybe jumpstart your new found passion? Did I mention these classes are FREE! Yes, Karen is generously donating her invaluable time to teach all the tools of the trade and more! You wont want to miss out on this months grant writing class!

Improv Comedy Workshop 

Do you want to learn to be more outgoing, are you a comedian at heart or maybe you're looking for something fun and different that will stretch you creatively and where you'll make new friends? Look no further than this Into to Improv Comedy Class! This fast-paced, fun class focuses on acting, characterization, creativity and spontaneity through improvised scenes and theatre games. College Application Workshop

This workshop is for college bound seniors. You will learn the ins and outs of the common app; how to effectively answer the standard "who are you?" essay question and make your accomplishments (the ordinary and the extraordinary) stand out! Please bring a list of all your activities and accomplishments. Bring your laptop or pencil and paper since we will be drafting your essay.

Workshop led by Eric Kennedy. Eric is a graduate of Pacifica High School with a 4.32 GPA and he just completed his first year of college at Northwestern University. He applied to all the UCs and most of the top private schools. Eric navigated the college app process through a process of trial and error and has a strong understanding of applying to college, giving you your best chance of getting in to the school you want to go to.
