A Christmas Carol

Writer and actor Fred Blanco won the San Francisco Fringe Festival last year for his brilliant portrayal of the great civil rights leader Cesar Chavez. Blanco debuts a brand-new show at The Found: an intriguing new twist on the greatest holiday tale of all time: Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol."

How can one man portray the host of rich characters in this beloved classic--from the beleaguered Bob Cratchit to Tiny Tim and old Scrooge himself? You'll just have to see for yourself.

November 18 thru 27; Friday & Saturday, 8 p.m., Sunday 2 p.m.

Tickets: $10; $8 for students

Reservations & Information: 562/433-3363 or info@foundtheatre.org

Venue: The Found Theatre, 599 Long Beach Blvd., Long Beach 90802

The Tiny Tim Stamp Of Approval: Sunday, November 27, is a special performance of "A Christmas Carol" for the H.O.P.E. Foundation Toy Drive. Bring an unwrapped toy valued at $10 or more and receive free admission and refreshments. Toys will be distributed to local kids who are living in shelters.

Scrooge Would Love This Deal! For pre-show lunch or dinner, we recommend: Creme de la Crepe, 400 E. 1st St., just a few blocks from The Found. Mention that you are seeing "A Christmas Carol @ The Found Theatre" and receive a 20% discount. (562/437-2222).

Help Send Kids to Summer Camp!

Greetings! Autism in Long Beach is trying to get a jump start on their 1st Annual Autism in Long Beach Summer Camp starting in 2012. Their goal is to provide every family active with Autism in Long Beach a free spot at their 1st Annual Summer Camp in 2012.

The way you can help is by dining at Ruby's in Long Beach on October 7th from 4pm-9pm and presenting them with the certificate you see next to this blog. They will donate 20% of your check to Autism in Long Beach, that's it! So instead of pizza go get some burgers & help deserving kids get the chance to go to summer camp! You must bring the flyer with you but the best thing is you can print as many as you want and hand them out to all your friends and co-workers!

It's a family friendly event, so bring the kids and neighbors, the more the merrier! If you can't come but would still like to help, please purchase a ticket to donate to a VET so that they can enjoy the day...what an amazing way to give back! Here's all the details...

On Saturday, July 30, 2011 at the Scottish Rite Event Center (newly named Ernest Borgnine Theatre) from 4pm-7pm on 855 Elm Street, Long Beach 90813, the second annual ‘Rock for Vets 2’ Benefit Concert will take place.

Please come and watch Bobby Kimball with Rick Latham (BB King, Edgar Winter & Juice Newton) and the All Stars, Jerry Salas (El Chicano), Manny Lagod (Don Ho), The Rock for Vets Music Therapy Bands (which are made up of Veterans of all ages and abilities), some local great artists and surprise guests as they perform live on stage.  This benefit concert will provide additional musical equipment, coaching for the next year and the opportunity for more Veterans to benefit from the Music Therapy Program.

In addition, we have teamed up with Mobile Green, a mobile phone exchange company that is providing The Rock Club – Rock For Vets Music Therapy Program with some greatly needed funding.  So donate your unused mobile phone, today or at the door.
